Text Box: Key West Thanks

2004 Key West Thanks

The CMS Offshore Racing Team may not have had a great showing in Key West but the weekend will not be forgotten for a long time.

Although the team did not win the World Championship event they were awarded the Sportsman Trophy for their efforts.

The Team would like to thank everyone who assisted in getting  taken care of Mitch , getting the Race Boat back on the race course for the Sundays event, and recovering the Cigarette from the sinking on Sunday.

A special thanks goes out to:

For their accomplishments on the race course in the 2004 season CMS Offshore Racing  received  the highest achievement in  Offshore Powerboat Racing this is an honor stated Mitch Miller, “we had a good lead going into the World Championship over CRC Mike DeFrees and Jeff Harris but the Heart Attack  took us out.”

The Race Team recruited Driver Chris Henley for the Saturday race as they boat started into turn 2 just after passing In-Motion the transom assembly let loose and that was all she wrote. The Team found themselves members of the bottoms up club.

After retrieving the boat and reviewing the points standing the team needed to make a start in Sundays race to collect the required points to maintain it’s lead in the chase for the “Hall of Champions.” We got the engines running at 5 am Sunday Morning with the help of the entire APBA Staff, other Race teams, and the Conche Republic Head Cheese Bill Spotswood.

“The Seats were soaked, all of the electronics were destroyed and the back of the boat was literally Duct Taped together, commented Bob Bull, It was running and I hade made a promise to my partner that we would be inducted to the APBA Hall of Champions this year.”

“Chris did an outstanding job for the team stated Jim Bull, Most people would have cussed us out in 5 different languages after being put on his head in Saturdays race but Chris never did he is a real Racer.”

We hope Key West will be a little kinder in the 2005 racing season.

2004 APBA Hall of Champions

2005 World Championship Key West Fl.

There is a New World Champion for 2006! Yes, CMS Offshore Racing took the title in Key West, Florida in November 2005. The team arrived early and prepared for the worst. The first race on Wednesday the team settled in for a rough ride and low and behold counted the laps right and stayed out of the hospital and took the race by a mile. CMS held a strong lead over  the second place boat Showtime ran by James ???? and Mike House from Virginia. Showtime time ran a good race and stayed strong.  Better luck next time. Mitch Miller the driver of CMS Offshore Racing Oh it was nothing to take them guys they just like to talk a lot and sometimes forget they are in a race, we wish them well for the second race. Well, the second race was a repeat of the first and CMS Offshore Racing took the flag again. Now were here for the final race and lets see if the boys can keep it up. Well, Well what do you know the guys pulled it of and didn't even have to work hard at it. CMS Offshore Racing came to Key West to take home the title and they did. Congrats... boys.
